Basketball Recap: Freeburg Comes Up Short

Freeburg lost against Mater Dei back in December of 2023 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. The Freeburg Midgets were dealt a 66-35 defeat at the hands of the Mater Dei Knights. The Midgets have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Among those leading the charge was Dixie Ottenschnieder, who went 6 for 9 on her way to 13 points and seven rebounds. Amelia Beer was another key player, putting up 11 points.

Freeburg's loss dropped their record down to 8-6. As for Mater Dei, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matches, which provided a nice bump to their 11-4 record this season.

Freeburg will square off against Jersey at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday. As for Mater Dei, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 54-47 victory against Belleville East on the 29th.
