Baseball Game Preview: Wake Prep Academy Guardians vs. Knightdale Knights

The Wake Prep Academy Guardians will head out to square off against the Knightdale Knights at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Wake Prep Academy will be strutting in after a win while Knightdale will be coming in after a loss.

Wake Prep Academy took a six-run defeat the last time they faced off against Franklin Academy, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Guardians narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past the Patriots 5-3. The win was some much needed relief for the Guardians as it spelled an end to their seven-game losing streak.

The team relied heavily on Ethan Hernandez, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and three runs. He is becoming a predictor of Wake Prep Academy's success: when he posts at least two stolen bases the team is 2-1 (and 5-9 when he doesn't). Easton Booser was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Monday just wasn't the day for Knightdale's offense. They fell just short of Millbrook by a score of 1-0 on Monday. Having soared to a lofty 14 runs in the game before, the Knights' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.

Wake Prep Academy's victory bumped their record up to 7-10. As for Knightdale, they have been struggling recently as they've lost 13 of their last 16 games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-17 record this season.
