Recap: Continental Pirates vs. Perry Commodores
This season hasn't been kind to the Continental Pirates, who are still winless after their 13th match. They took a serious blow against Perry on Tuesday, falling 45-8. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss Continental has suffered since December 12, 2023.
Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Continental struggled to work together and finished the game with only three assists. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Perry racked up 11 assists.
Perry found their leader in underclassman Khaliah Luster, who scored 18 points along with two steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Luster has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Mary Hoersten, who scored four points along with six rebounds and six steals.
Continental dropped their record down to 0-13 with that loss, which was their fifth straight at home. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 17.2 points per game. As for Perry, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matches, which provided a nice bump to their 9-4 record this season.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Continental will square off against Fort Jennings at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Perry, they will head out on the road to square off against North Baltimore at 6:45 p.m. on Thursday. North Baltimore has now lost nine straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since November 30.
