 Friday just wasn't the day for Elida's offense. They lost  10-0 to the Gateway Christian Warriors on Friday. Elida has now  taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
 Elida saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was  Coda Cathey, who  went 2-for-3 with a  double.
 On Gateway Christian's side,  the result came thanks to  Jacoby Chavez's shutout, as he gave up just one  hit and racked up ten Ks. Chavez has been consistent recently: he hasn't  given up  more than two  hits in four consecutive pitching appearances.
 At the plate, Gateway Christian got a big performance out of  Grady Munson, who  scored two  runs and  stole two bases while going 1-for-3. Another player making a difference was  Rayford Fulkerson, who  scored three  runs and  stole two bases while going 1-for-3.
 Elida's defeat dropped their record down to 6-5. As for Gateway Christian, the  win (which was their eighth in a row) raised their record to 12-5.
 Both  teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Elida will  take on Floyd at 3:00  p.m.  on Monday. Elida is facing Floyd at the right time seeing as Floyd is stuck on  a  nine-game losing streak. As for Gateway Christian, they will head out on the road to  face off against  Dora at 6:00  p.m.  on Monday. Gateway Christian knows how to get  runs on the board -- the  squad has finished with flashy  run totals in its past eight contests -- so hopefully Dora likes a good challenge.
