Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Hastings walked away with it. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Briarcliff Bears on Saturday, sneaking past 9-7. Surprisingly, this marked the Yellow Jackets' fifth straight game in which the away team has come away the victor.

Avi Rothstein was excellent, going 1-for-4 with one home run and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Kieran McGrath, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with one run.

Hastings is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven games. That's provided a massive bump to their 13-9 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.3 runs over those games. As for Briarcliff, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-5-1.

Coming up, Hastings is taking a road trip to challenge Putnam Valley at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Tigers' pitching crew has only allowed 3.2 runs per game this season, so the Yellow Jackets' hitters will have their work cut out for them. Briarcliff does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
