Basketball Game Preview: Peotone Blue Devils vs. Manteno Panthers

Peotone hasn't had much luck against Manteno recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Blue Devils will take on the Panthers at 7:00 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.

Peotone can't be too worried about heading out to take on Manteno: they just beat Wilmington at home, who had been dominant on their own court up to that point. The Blue Devils enjoyed a cozy 62-46 victory over the Wildcats on Friday. The win continues a trend for the Blue Devils in their matchups with the Wildcats: they've now won three in a row.

Meanwhile, a well-balanced attack led Manteno over Reed-Custer in every quarter on their way to victory on Friday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that the Panthers blew the Comets out of the water with a 68-31 final score. The contest was all but wrapped up at the end of the third, by which point the Panthers had established a 35-point advantage.

The victory got Manteno back to even at 13-13. As for Peotone, their win bumped their record up to 13-10.

Peotone came up short against Manteno in their previous meeting back in December of 2025, falling 60-49. Can the Blue Devils avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
