Baseball Recap: Live Oak Victorious

While Live Oak's win against Leland wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Acorns skirted past the Chargers 2-0. Surprisingly, this marked the fourth straight game in which the away team has come away the victor in this series.

Not much got past Austin Meads, who gave up just three hits and racked up seven Ks to keep Leland off the board. Meads also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Live Oak is 5-2 when he allows at most one earned run, but 6-10-1 otherwise.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Jack Rice, who went 2-for-4 with two doubles and two RBI. Those two doubles gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Noah Baquiran, who went 2-for-3 with one double.

Live Oak is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-12-1 record this season. As for Leland, their loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 17-6.

Live Oak will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Chargers: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
