Softball Recap: Concordia Wins Going Away Against Orrick

Concordia had to skate by with only a two-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 21-run drubbing they dealt Orrick on Monday. The Fighting Orioles put the hurt on the Bearcats with a sharp 22-1 win. The result was nothing new for the Fighting Orioles, who have now won 14 contests by six runs or more so far this season.

Karleigh Wilckens made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing three innings while giving up just one earned run but no hits. Wilckens was also big at the plate, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with two runs and one RBI.

In other batting news, Ava Mueller was incredible, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI, two runs, and two doubles. She has been hot recently, having also posted at least one stolen base the last three times she's played. Addison Roepe was another key player, going a perfect 1-for-1 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI.

Concordia always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .767. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Orrick only posted an OBP of .182.

Concordia's record now sits at 17-4. As for Orrick, they are on a 31-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-16.

Concordia has already played their next matchup, a 5-2 victory against Lone Jack on the 29th. As for Orrick, they will welcome Santa Fe at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Chiefs have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 9.62 runs per game on average), something the Bearcats will no doubt try to take advantage of.
