Softball Game Preview: Wicksburg Panthers vs. Houston Academy Raiders

Wicksburg has won nine straight games at home (dating back to last season), while Houston Academy has won nine straight on the road also dating back to last season, but those streaks won't matter much on Tuesday. Wicksburg will host Houston Academy at 5:00 p.m. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Wicksburg 1.4, Houston Academy 0.8) so any runs scored will be well earned.

Wicksburg saw some tournament action on Wednesday. They walked away with a 9-5 victory over Athens.

The team relied heavily on Anleigh Wood, who went 2-for-4 with one home run and three RBI. Another player making a difference was Chloe Joyner, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.

Wicksburg was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .440. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Athens only posted a batting average of .261.

Meanwhile, Tuesday just wasn't the day for Houston Academy's offense. They took a 3-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of Oswego on Tuesday. The Raiders' defeat signaled the end of their four-game winning streak.

Wicksburg has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 21 of their last 22 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 24-6 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.9 runs on average over those games. Houston Academy's loss dropped their record down to 12-3.
