Softball Recap: Make It Four in a Row for Stevens Point

Stevens Point had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 10.3 runs) and they went ahead and made it four on Friday. They walked away with a 6-3 victory over the Neenah Rockets. For the Panthers, this counts as revenge for the 3-1 win the Rockets walked away with the last time they faced one another back in April of 2025.

Callie Diekhus made a splash no matter where she played. She pitched 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in six consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with one home run and two RBI.

In other pitching news, Abbi Grabow tossed a big game, pitching 4.2 innings while giving up just two earned runs off five hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks any time she's pitched this season.

Back at the plate, the team relied heavily on Sophia Abundiz, who went 3-for-4 with two doubles, one stolen base, and one run. That's the most doubles she has posted since back in May of 2025. The team also got some help courtesy of Jordan Roth, who went 2-for-4 with one run and one RBI.

Stevens Point was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .387. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .387 or higher in four consecutive contests.

Stevens Point's victory bumped their record up to 10-2. As for Neenah, their loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 6-5.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Stevens Point will venture away from home to challenge Wausau East at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Neenah, they will head out to take on Appleton North at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
