Baseball Recap: Five Straight Home Wins for Liberty

While Liberty's victory against Pocono Mountain East wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Hurricanes had just enough and edged out the Cardinals 5-4. The win continues a trend for the Hurricanes in their matchups with the Cardinals: they've now won eight in a row.

Michael Mariano Jr. looked comfortable as he pitched 2.1 innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits.

On the hitting side, Jacob Matthews was excellent, going 2-for-3 with three RBI and one double. Dylan Metzgar was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one run.

Liberty hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Pocono Mountain East struck out nine times.

Liberty's victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 17-4. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.2 runs over those games. As for Pocono Mountain East, their defeat ended a six-game streak of away wins and brought them to 14-7.

Looking ahead, Liberty will be playing at home against Nazareth Area at 7:05 p.m. on Monday. The Hurricanes' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Blue Eagles have averaged an impressive 6.3 runs per game this season. Pocono Mountain East does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
