Football Recap: Pelham Falls Despite Big Games from Dylan Smith and Marcus Arnold + How To Watch

Pelham had lost three straight on the road, but on Thursday they dropped down to 4-6 to make it four. They fell 28-21 to the Fort Payne Wildcats. The Panthers lost against the Wildcats in their previous head to head back in November of 2024, too, but the margin this time around was much closer than the 38-10 score last time.

Pelham's loss came despite strong showings from Marcus Arnold and Dylan Smith. Arnold picked up 208 receiving yards and one score, while Smith threw for 250 yards and one touchdown. With that strong performance, Arnold is now averaging an impressive 101.4 receiving yards per game.

As for Fort Payne, the win (which was their eighth in a row) raised their record to 9-1. The victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 36.0 points over those games.

Fort Payne's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Blake Griggs, who rushed for 89 yards and one TD on only 11 carries, and also threw for 113 yards and one touchdown while completing 91.7% of his passes. Kaiden Adams helped out on the ground, rushing for 156 yards.

As of now, neither Pelham nor Fort Payne have any future games scheduled.
