In other batting news, Willow Wright was a standout: she scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-2. What's more, she posted two RBI, the most she's had since back in April of 2024. Rachel Madden was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with four RBI and two doubles.
San Dieguito Academy hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least four batters in five consecutive matchups.
Meanwhile, Tuesday just wasn't the day for La Costa Canyon's offense. They fell just short of Bonita Vista by a score of 2-0 on Tuesday. That makes it the first time this season the Mavericks have let down their home crowd.
Norah Coulsell spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered two runs (both of which were unearned) on five hits.
On the hitting side, La Costa Canyon saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Sienna Curry, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one stolen base.
San Dieguito Academy's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-1-1. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.0 runs over those games. As for La Costa Canyon, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 8-5-1.
La Costa Canyon's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: San Dieguito Academy hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .356.
