Baseball Game Preview: ROWVA/Williamsfield Cougars vs. Brimfield Indians

ROWVA/Williamsfield is 0-5 against Brimfield since April of 2021 but things could change on Thursday. The Cougars will be playing at home against the Indians at 4:30 p.m.

On Tuesday, ROWVA/Williamsfield didn't have quite enough to beat Orion and fell 10-8.

Drake DeJaynes made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with one home run, two stolen bases, and two runs. The team also got some help courtesy of Brody Lytle, who went 1-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

Meanwhile, Brimfield had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 10.5 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Wednesday. They put the hurt on the Titans with a sharp 12-2 win. Considering the Indians have won ten matchups by more than five runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

Kaeden Schatsiek was a standout: he went 1-for-2 with three stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. Those three stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Layne Johnson was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one triple, two RBI, and one run.

Brimfield always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .655. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Brimfield's victory bumped their record up to 15-4-1. As for ROWVA/Williamsfield, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-7.

ROWVA/Williamsfield suffered a grim 14-5 defeat to Brimfield in their previous meeting on April 8th. Can the Cougars avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
