Basketball Game Preview: Upland Highlanders/Scots vs. Los Osos Grizzlies

Upland hasn't had much luck against Los Osos recently, but that could start to change on Wednesday. The Upland Highlanders/Scots will head out to challenge the Los Osos Grizzlies at 6:30 p.m.

Upland is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to 64 points last Saturday, they were much more limited against Damien on Friday. They were outmatched by the Spartans and fell 74-29. While losing is never fun, the Highlanders/Scots can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 502nd, while the Spartans are ranked 51st).

Meanwhile, you can't lose the game if you win every quarter, and that was precisely Los Osos' strategy against Claremont on Monday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that Los Osos blew Claremont out of the water with a 69-38 final score. The Grizzlies have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won eight matches by 20 points or more this season.

Los Osos is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 14-7 record this season. As for Upland, they now have a losing record at 9-10.

Upland didn't have too much breathing room in their game against Los Osos in their previous matchup back in January of 2024, but they still walked away with a 55-49 victory. Will Upland repeat their success, or does Los Osos have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
