Basketball Game Preview: Newcomb Skyhawks vs. Navajo Prep Eagles

Newcomb hasn't had much luck against Navajo Prep recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Newcomb Skyhawks will host the Navajo Prep Eagles at 7:00 p.m.

It's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 63-34, which was the final score in Newcomb's tilt against Zuni on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, Navajo Prep had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 16.3 points) and they went ahead and made it four on Wednesday. They took down the Eagles 60-43.

Navajo Prep's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 14-5. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 73.3 points per game. As for Newcomb, their loss dropped their record down to 6-13.

Newcomb was taken down by Navajo Prep 88-37 in their previous matchup back in February of 2024. That game was all but decided by halftime, at which point Newcomb was down 52-29.
