            Softball Recap: Fowlerville Gladiators vs. Howell Highlanders        
        
		
        
        
            Fowlerville had lost five straight on the road dating back to last season, but  on Thursday they dropped their record down to 2-5 to make it six. They came up short against  the Howell Highlanders, falling  17-2. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Highlanders this season, as they also lost their prior matchup  17-0  on Thursday.
 Fowlerville saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was  Kiely Davis, who  went 1-for-2 with one  double and one  RBI.  Avery Borg also deserves some recognition as  she  scored her first  run of the season.
As for Howell, the  win was  the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 9-3. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight games by six  runs or more this season.
On Howell's side,  Brooke Keller was a  major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound,   tossing four innings while giving up just one earned  (and one unearned) run off   three  hits. Keller has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't  given up  more than two  walks in five consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate,  going a perfect 4-for-4 with one  RBI. Those  four  hits gave  her a new career-high.
 In other batting news,  Clem Stevens and  Lara Anderson did most of the damage at the plate:  Stevens  went a perfect 4-for-4 with three  runs, three  RBI,  and one  stolen base, while  Anderson  went 2-for-4 with one  home run, five  RBI,  and two  runs. Those  three  runs gave  Stevens a new career-high.  Leighton Scott was another key player,  going a perfect 2-for-2 with one  run and one  RBI.
 Looking ahead, Fowlerville will head out on the road to  take on  Haslett  at 4:00  p.m.  on Tuesday. As for Howell, they will be taking part in a tournament against Grand Ledge  at 9:00  a.m.  on Saturday.
