Softball Recap: St. Joseph Picks Up Eighth Consecutive Win

St. Joseph came tearing into Saturday's matchup with seven straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 9.6 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 1-0 W against the Ridgefield Tigers. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Cadets have posted against the Tigers since May 7, 2017.

The result came thanks to Katie Dzialo's shutout, as she gave up just two hits and racked up 14 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in 19 consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Sophia Rodriguez, who went 1-for-3 with one home run.

St. Joseph's victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 18-3. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.4 runs on average over those games. As for Ridgefield, they now have a losing record of 9-10.
