Baseball Game Preview: Dowagiac Chieftains vs. Three Rivers Wildcats

The Dowagiac Chieftains will challenge the Three Rivers Wildcats at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. The teams are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Dowagiac has struggled recently with four defeats in a row, while Three Rivers will arrive with four straight wins.

Buchanan hit Dowagiac with a six-run sixth inning on Wednesday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Chieftains fell 12-7 to the Bucks.

Lamone Moore was cooking despite his team's loss, going 1-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. That hit marked the first that he has got this season. Another player making a difference was Hayden Groth, who went 2-for-3 with one run and one double.

Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when Three Rivers duked it out with Coldwater on Thursday. The Wildcats came out on top against the Cardinals by a score of 9-4.

Gabe Young was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with five stolen bases and four runs. The team also got some help courtesy of Mason Awe, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

Three Rivers always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .528. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Dowagiac's loss dropped their record down to 1-4. As for Three Rivers, their victory bumped their record up to 5-3.

Dowagiac skirted past Three Rivers 2-1 in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Will the Chieftains repeat their success, or do the Wildcats have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
