The Floresville Tigers/Jaguars will venture away from home to challenge the Calallen Wildcats at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Floresville barely beat Uvalde the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. Floresville put the hurt on Uvalde with a sharp 8-1 victory on Friday. The Tigers/Jaguars haven't had any issues with the Coyotes/Lobos (for girls) recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.

Jaden Moreno made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He struck out seven batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned run off six hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in seven consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 3-for-4. Those three hits gave him a new career-high.
In other batting news, Coy Mainz and Bryan Cardenas did most of the damage at the plate: Mainz went 3-for-4 with two RBI and one double, while Cardenas scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3. That's the most hits Mainz has posted since back in May of 2024. Austin Beyer also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.
Floresville always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .516. They are a perfect 6-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.
Meanwhile, Calallen put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. Their pitchers stepped up to hand Robstown a 12-0 shutout. Give the Wildcats' pitching crew some credit: that's the team's third straight shutout.
Collier Carroll looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit over four innings pitched.
At the plate, Blake Quinn was a standout: he went a perfect 4-for-4 with five RBI, one run, and one double. Another player making a difference was Chase Lynch, who scored three runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-3.
Calallen's victory was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 16-0. As for Floresville, their record is now 11-7.
Saturday's matchup might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Floresville has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .448. However, it's not like Calallen struggles in that department as they've averaged .501. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
