Baseball Recap: Trico Takes a Loss

Trico had lost five straight on the road, but on Tuesday they dropped their record down to 4-10 to make it six. They fell just short of the Vienna Eagles by a score of 6-5. If the Pioneers were looking for revenge after losing 12-2 to the Eagles when the teams met back in April of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

As for Vienna, their win was their first in the conference, bumping their conference record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 10-7. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory they have posted against Trico since April 12, 2018.

For Vienna's part, their win was truly a team effort as seven different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Hayden Jones, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. Those three hits gave Jones a new career-high. Grady Waters also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Looking ahead, Trico will welcome Gibault Catholic at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Vienna will be paying especially close attention to the Pioneers' game: after the Pioneers face off against the Hawks, they'll take on Vienna again at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
