Baseball Recap: Fultondale Find Success

Fultondale won against Fairfield last Thursday with six runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Saturday. The Fultondale Wildcats skirted past the Pleasant Grove Spartans 6-4. This was a revenge game for the Wildcats: when they faced off against the Spartans last Thursday, they had to take a 9-4 loss.

The team relied heavily on Jaiden Palmer, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3. He is becoming a predictor of Fultondale's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 3-1 (and 3-4 when he doesn't). Omi Blue was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two RBI and one double.

The win made it two in a row for Fultondale and bumps their season record up to 6-5. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games. As for Pleasant Grove, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-5.

Looking ahead, Fultondale will head out on the road to take on Midfield at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday. Midfield has struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 14.33 runs per game on average), something Fultondale will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Pleasant Grove, they will face off against Southeastern at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
