Softball Recap: First Flight Takes a Loss

After flying high against Columbia last Wednesday, First Flight came back down to earth. First Flight fell 6-1 to the Manteo Redskins on Friday. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Redskins this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 4-0 last Tuesday.

Riley Gilreath spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered six earned runs on 12 hits and racked up eight Ks. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in April of 2024.

First Flight's loss dropped their record down to 3-2. As for Manteo, their record is now 6-3.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. First Flight is set to square off against their familiar foe Camden County at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Manteo will face off against rival Currituck County at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
