Baseball Recap: Spoto Triumphs

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Newsome, Spoto was happy to have turned things around on Thursday. They walked away with a 6-3 victory over the East Bay Indians. For the Spartans, this counts as revenge for the 11-0 win the Indians walked away with the last time they faced one another back in February of 2024.

Spoto got a great performance from Gavin Hansen as he struck out six batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off four hits. Those six strikeouts gave Hansen a new career-high.

At the plate, Spoto saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Nate Rodriguez, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-2. That's the most hits Rodriguez has posted since March 1st. Levert Sims Jr also deserves some recognition as he hit his first triple of the season.

The victory got Spoto back to even at 9-9. As for East Bay, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost five of their last six contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-10 record this season.

Spoto has already played their next match, an 8-7 win against Freedom on the 29th. As for East Bay, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next game, a 14-3 defeat against Sickles on the 29th.
