Baseball Recap: Truckee Triumphs

Truckee hadn't done well against Churchill County recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. The Wolverines had just enough and edged out the Greenwave 9-8. For the Wolverines, this counts as revenge for the 5-3 win the Greenwave walked away with the last time they faced one another back in May of 2025.

Griffin Tuscano was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances. He was even better at the plate, going 3-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. That's the most hits he has posted since back in March.

In other batting news, Cadell Moulton was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, two RBI, and one double. He has become a key player for Truckee: the team is 2-1 when he posts at least three hits, but 8-11 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Mason Hyams, who went 2-for-4 with two runs and one RBI.

Truckee kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They are 5-1 when they post 11 or more hits.

Truckee's record now sits at 10-12. As for Churchill County, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost nine of their last 11 contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 9-12 record this season.

Truckee will have a chance to go back-to-back against Churchill County: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday.
