Football Recap: Mize Comes Up Short

Mize had lost three straight on the road, but on Friday they dropped down to 2-5 to make it four. They were beaten by the Heidelberg Oilers 50-0. The game marked the first time this year in which the Bulldogs were not able to get on the board.

As for Heidelberg, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 5-2. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five matchups by 41 points or more this season.

Heidelberg's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Kaden Porter, who rushed for 117 yards and three TDs on only seven carries. That's the most rushing touchdowns Porter has posted since back in October of 2024. Heidelberg also got a significant boost from Chase Craft, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 104 yards.

Coming up, Mize will head out on the road to face off against Clarkdale at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Clarkdale's defense has only allowed 10.7 points per game this season, so Mize's offense will have their work cut out for them. As for Heidelberg, they will welcome Bay Springs at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have allowed few points on average (the Oilers 11.3, the Bulldogs 13.1) so any points scored will be well earned.
