Basketball Recap: Houston County Takes a Loss

Houston County was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They were dealt a 57-26 loss at the hands of the Lee County Trojans. While losing is never fun, the Bears can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 343rd, while the Trojans are ranked 76th).

Lee County was led to victory by Taliyah Porter and Camya Hutcherson. Porter went 10 for 14 en route to 23 points and five steals, while Hutcherson posted 13 points in addition to six steals and five assists. Porter has been hot for a while, having posted two or more steals the last 12 times she's played. Jada Ridley was another key player, putting up seven points and six rebounds.

Houston County's defeat dropped their record down to 5-13. As for Lee County, they pushed their record up to 11-6 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road.

Houston County didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 70-26 loss against Coffee on the 17th. As for Lee County, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 51-34 victory against Thomas County Central on the 18th.
