Soccer Game Preview: Smoky Mountain vs. East Henderson

The Smoky Mountain Mustangs will face off against the East Henderson Eagles at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Smoky Mountain's last three games have been decided by no more than a goal, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.

Smoky Mountain is likely headed into the contest with a focus on the second half, which is when things went downhill against Tuscola on Monday. The Mustangs fell just short of the Mountaineers by a score of 2-1. Smoky Mountain haven't had much luck with Tuscola recently, as the team has come up short the last four times they've met.

Meanwhile, East Henderson hadn't done well against Pisgah recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Monday. The Eagles sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 2-1 victory over the Bears. The win continues a trend for East Henderson in their matchups with Pisgah: they've now won three in a row.

East Henderson's victory was their first in the conference, bumping their conference record up to 1-3-1 and their overall record up to 4-7-2. As for Smoky Mountain, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-4.

Smoky Mountain beat East Henderson 4-2 when the teams last played back in May of 2024. Will the Mustangs repeat their success, or do the Eagles have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
