Preview: Juanita Ravens vs. Mercer Island Islanders
The Juanita Ravens will head out on the road to face off against the Mercer Island Islanders at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Washington (Juanita is ranked 57th, while Mercer Island is ranked 72nd).
Last Friday, Juanita never let their opponents score. They really took it to Lake Washington for the full four quarters, racking up a 31-0 victory at home. The result was nothing new for Juanita, who have now won five games by 31 points or more so far this season.
Nolan Mcwilliams and Dallas Sooto were among the main playmakers for Juanita as the former picked up 170 receiving yards and a touchdown and the latter threw for 283 yards and a touchdown while completing 76.2% of his passes. Mcwilliams' longest reception was for an incredible 70 yards. Elliot Staples was in the mix as well, providing Juanita with two touchdowns.
Meanwhile, Mercer Island entered their tilt with Newport - Bellevue with three consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with four. Mercer Island secured a 27-21 W over Newport - Bellevue on Friday.
Mercer Island had a senior duo take command as Luke Myklebust rushed for 90 yards and a touchdown on only 12 carries and Cole Krawiec rushed for 68 yards and two touchdowns.
Juanita's victory bumped their record up to 6-2. As for Mercer Island, their victory was their fourth straight on the road, which bumped their overall record up to 6-2.
Everything went Juanita's way against Mercer Island when the teams last played back in October of 2022 as Juanita made off with a 28-6 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Juanita since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
