University is 0-10 against Woodbridge since May of 2018 but things could change on Monday. The Trojans will look to defend their home field against the Warriors at 3:30 p.m. The two teams are strolling into their matchups after big wins in their previous games.
University barely beat Portola the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Trojans were the clear victors by a 13-1 margin over the Bulldogs on Wednesday. The result was nothing new for the Trojans, who have now won seven games by six runs or more so far this season.
Carson Cruz made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out seven batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off eight hits (and not a single walk). Cruz was also big at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with four RBI and one double.

In other batting news, Amela Hoang was incredible, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with four runs, one triple, and two RBI. Those four runs gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Alexandra McBride, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with three RBI.
University always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .667. They are a perfect 6-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Woodbridge). Their pitcher stepped up to hand Northwood a 10-0 shutout on Wednesday. The high-scoring effort was just what the Warriors needed considering they were shut out in their previous contest.
The team relied heavily on Payton Harris, who scored a run while going 3-for-4. She also hit a double, marking her first of the season. Clarissa Stayrook was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.
Woodbridge moved to 6-8-1 with that win, which also ended their three-game losing streak. As for University, they have been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-3 record this season.
Woodbridge's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: University hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .477. It's a different story for Woodbridge, though, as they've only averaged .237. Will they be able to contain University's hitters?
University suffered a grim 10-4 defeat to Woodbridge when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Can the Trojans avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
