Basketball Game Preview: Whitmire Wolverines vs. Thornwell Saints

The Whitmire Wolverines will take on the Thornwell Saints at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with three consecutive losses apiece.

Whitmire will face Thornwell after dropping another heartbreaker against Ware Shoals on Tuesday, which marked the second time in a row the team's come within 3.1 of beating them. Whitmire was beaten by Ware Shoals 82-45.

The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Seth Rueter, who went 6 of 14 on his way to 16 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kayshaun Schumpert, who posted nine points.

Meanwhile, Thornwell came up short against McCormick on Thursday and fell 76-68.

Thornwell's loss dropped their record down to 2-8. As for Whitmire, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-11.

Everything came up roses for Whitmire against Thornwell in their previous meeting back in January of 2024, as the team secured a 63-20 victory. Will Whitmire repeat their success, or does Thornwell have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
