Emma Mullins made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 14 batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off three hits (and only one walk). She has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than ten strikeouts in six consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one triple.
In other batting news, Brooke Werdann was a standout: she got on base in all four of her plate appearances with six stolen bases and two runs. Another player making a difference was Maggie Burns, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with five stolen bases and two runs.
Trinity Hall always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .600. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Long Branch only posted an OBP of .091.
Meanwhile, Point Pleasant Beach had just enough and edged out Manchester Township 4-2 on Wednesday.
Lucia Robinson spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on six hits.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Gia Gates, who went 1-for-2 with three stolen bases, two RBI, and one run. Those two RBI gave her a new career-high. Sydney Zylinski was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one triple, one stolen base, and one run.
Trinity Hall's win bumped their record up to 6-2. As for Point Pleasant Beach, their victory (their first of the season) made their record 1-9.
Point Pleasant Beach's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Trinity Hall hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .358. It's a different story for Point Pleasant Beach, though, as they've only averaged .192. Will they be able to contain Trinity Hall's hitters?
