Basketball Game Preview: Summit Academy Eagles vs. Baruch College Blue Devils Bearcats

The Summit Academy Eagles will face off against the Baruch College Blue Devils Bearcats at 5:00 p.m. on Sunday. One thing working in Summit Academy's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last 21 contests.

Summit Academy is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Thursday. They breezed past Brooklyn Community Arts & Media to the tune of 87-51. The Eagles have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 20 matches by 22 points or more this season.

Summit Academy's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Justin Rodriguez led the charge by putting up 31 points and three steals. Another player making a difference was Dimarco Dixon, who posted 25 points in addition to five rebounds and four steals.

Summit Academy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive rebounds in six consecutive games.

Meanwhile, Baruch College came tearing into last Thursday's contest with six straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 19.7 points), and they left with even more momentum. They had just enough and edged out the Trailblazers 68-66.

Baruch College pushed their record up to 13-3 with the victory, which was their seventh straight at home. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 23.1 points. As for Summit Academy, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 12 of their last 13 matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 25-5 record this season.

Summit Academy was dealt a bruising 57-29 loss at the hands of Baruch College in their previous matchup back in February of 2023. Can Summit Academy avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
