Softball Recap: Harlingen Takes a Loss

Harlingen and Eagle Pass squared off in some playoff action on Saturday, but Harlingen had to settle for second. They took a 9-6 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Eagles. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Eagles this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 13-2 on Friday.

Zuelly Cruz was cooking despite her team's loss, going 3-for-4 with two doubles and two RBI. Makayla Gonzalez was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two RBI.

This is the second loss in a row for Harlingen and nudges their season record down to 20-11. As for Eagle Pass, the win (which was their 11th in a row) raised their record to 24-2.

Harlingen does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Eagle Pass, they will head out to square off against Dripping Springs at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Eagles 2.5, the Tigers 4) so any runs scored will be well earned.
