Baseball Game Preview: Cordova Wolves vs. Memphis East Mustangs

The Cordova Wolves will venture away from home to square off against the Memphis East Mustangs at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Cordova had taken Southwind down for three straight games at home, but that winning streak came to an end last Tuesday. The Wolves fell just short of the Jaguars by a score of 12-11. The loss was the Wolves' first of the season.

Logan Chapman and Terralonce Parker stepped up to the plate in a big way. Chapman scored three runs and stole two bases while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances, while Parker scored two runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-2. The team also got some help courtesy of Edgar Bianco, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3.

Meanwhile, Memphis East was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They lost 11-2 to Overton. Having soared to a lofty 11 runs in the game before, the Mustangs couldn't push the score so high this time.

Memphis East saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was James Kmet, who scored a run and stole a base while going 3-for-3.

Memphis East's loss dropped their record down to 1-6. As for Cordova, their defeat was their first of the season and makes their record 4-1.

Everything went Cordova's way against Memphis East in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, as Cordova made off with a 17-2 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Wolves since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
