Football Recap: Stephens County Indians vs. Habersham Central Raiders

Stephens County had to hit the road for their first game and it wasn't the result they were hoping for. They came up short against the Habersham Central Raiders on Friday, falling 27-3. The Indians were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Raiders apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in August of 2024.

Branson Stowe threw for 146 yards on 13 of 21 attempts. Davon Swinton was his top target, picking up 84 receiving yards. On the ground, Zykemian Durham rushed for 37 yards.

Leading Habersham Central to victory were Donnie Warren and Paris Wilbanks. Warren rushed for 193 yards and one score while picking up 7.4 yards per carry, while Wilbanks rushed for 55 yards and a pair of touchdowns. Warren was no stranger to the big play, taking off on a dash that went for 50 yards.

Stephens County wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next contest, a 21-17 win against Elbert County on the 22nd. As for Habersham Central, they have also already played their next matchup, a 31-28 loss against Flowery Branch on the 22nd.
