Football Recap: Stephens County Starts Season with Defeat on the Road

Stephens County had to start their season on the road on Friday, and it wasn't the start they were hoping for. They came up short against the Habersham Central Raiders, falling 27-3. The Indians were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Raiders apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in August of 2024.

Habersham Central was led to victory by Donnie Warren and Paris Wilbanks. Warren rushed for 193 yards and one touchdown while picking up 7.4 yards per carry, while Wilbanks rushed for 55 yards and a pair of TDs. The dominant performance also gave Wilbanks a new career-high in rushing touchdowns (two).

Coming up, Stephens County will head out to challenge Elbert County at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Habersham Central, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Flowery Branch at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
