Basketball Recap: Milpitas Comes Up Short

Milpitas and St. Ignatius College Preparatory squared off in some playoff action on Monday, but Milpitas had to settle for second. They fell 54-41 to the St. Ignatius College Preparatory Wildcats. The Trojans were down 47-26 at the end of the third quarter, which was just too much to recover from.

Milpitas' defeat dropped their record down to 22-4. As for St. Ignatius College Preparatory, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last nine contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 19-7 record this season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Milpitas will take on Junipero Serra at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Junipero Serra knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past four games -- so hopefully Milpitas likes a good challenge. As for St. Ignatius College Preparatory, they will look to defend their home court on Wednesday against Bellarmine College Prep at 7:30 p.m.
