Basketball Game Preview: Sargent County Bulldogs vs. Oakes Tornadoes

The Sargent County Bulldogs will head out on the road to challenge the Oakes Tornadoes at 7:15 p.m. on Thursday. Sargent County will be strutting in after a victory while Oakes will be coming in after a defeat.

Last Monday, Sargent County made easy work of Enderlin and carried off a 57-35 win. The Bulldogs have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won six matchups by 22 points or more this season.

Oakes has been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They fell 54-43 to Maple River on Monday. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Tornadoes came into the game with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 53rd in North Dakota, while the Eagles are ranked 241st in Minnesota).

Oakes' loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 8-3. As for Sargent County, their victory bumped their record up to an identical 8-3.

Sargent County strolled past Oakes when the teams last played back in February of 2024 by a score of 50-32. Will Sargent County repeat their success, or does Oakes have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
