Baseball Game Preview: Newark Reds vs. Waterloo Tigers

For the second straight game, Newark will face off against Waterloo. The Reds will look to defend their home field on Monday against the Tigers at 7:00 p.m.

Newark is coming home in high spirits after they had to open their season on the road against Waterloo. The Reds blew past the Tigers 7-1 on Tuesday. The game was the first time the Reds have beaten the Tigers on their field since May 5, 2022.

Cody Forjone spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on three hits and racked up 12 Ks.

On the hitting side, Newark let Michael McGavisk and Carlos Martinez run wild. McGavisk scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-4, while Martinez went 1-for-3 with three RBI and one triple. Those three RBI gave Martinez a new career-high.

Newark took their victory against Waterloo when the teams last played on Tuesday by a conclusive 7-1 score. Will the Reds repeat their success, or do the Tigers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
