Pinewood hadn't done well against Castilleja recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. The Panthers came out on top against the Gators by a score of 3-1. This was a revenge game for the Panthers: when they faced off against the Gators back in September, they had to take a 3-1 loss.

The match finished with set scores of 25-23, 21-25, 25-17, 25-23.

Mailey Wang paced Pinewood's offense, picking up 28 kills. Wang got some help from Caitlin Yamaguchi and her 23 assists. Wang was also solid from the service line: she led the team with eight aces.

When it comes to explaining why Castilleja lost, don't look at Rubi Ochoa. Despite the final result, she had 14 digs and three aces. Ochoa has been hot, having posted 14 or more digs the last six times she's played. Mars Scott also deserves some recognition as she had her first dig of the season.

Pinewood's record is now 17-8. As for Castilleja, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 7-8.

Pinewood didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 3-0 defeat against MacDonald on the 23rd. As for Castilleja, they have also already played their next match, a 3-0 win against Eastside College Prep on the 23rd.
