William Floyd and Ward Melville squared off in some playoff action on Friday, but William Floyd had to settle for second. They fell just short of the Patriots by a score of 31-28. The defensive woes were uncharacteristic for the Colonials, who until this contest were averaging 10.73 points allowed.

When it comes to explaining why William Floyd lost, don't look at Jaquan Thomas. Despite the final result, he rushed for 210 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 10.0 yards per carry, and also threw for 158 yards and one TD while completing 85.7% of his passes. Thomas is crushing it when it comes to rushing yards: he's rushed for at least 124 every time he's taken the field this season. 119 of Thomas' passing yards were hauled in by Evan Commodore.
