Basketball Recap: Nebraska City Falls Despite Big Games from Caleb Walker and Sam Rovetto

Nebraska City was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They came up short against the Syracuse Rockets, falling 63-37. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Pioneers have suffered since January 29th.

Nebraska City's loss came despite strong showings from Sam Rovetto and Caleb Walker. Rovetto went 5 for 9 on his way to 13 points and five rebounds, while Walker posted 11 points and three steals. What's more, Walker also racked up four assists, the most he's had since back in January. Brayden Earll was another key player, putting up five points.

Even though they lost, Nebraska City was working as a unit and finished the game with 13 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Nebraska City's loss dropped their record down to 0-5. As for Syracuse, the win keeps them at an undefeated 5-0.

Nebraska City will venture away from home to challenge Jefferson at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Syracuse will take on Elmwood-Murdock in a holiday battle at at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. One thing working in Elmwood-Murdock's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last three matches.
