Basketball Recap: Chase Takes a Loss

If Chase was feeling good fresh off their 66-44 takedown of Burrton last Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Chase Kats were dealt a 71-26 loss at the hands of the St. John Tigers on Tuesday. While losing is never fun, the Kats can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Kansas basketball rankings (they are ranked 349th, while the Tigers are ranked 123rd).

Despite the defeat, Chase saw an underclassman step up: freshman Malik Carson dropped a double-double on 11 points and 12 rebounds. The dominant performance also gave Carson a new career-high in blocks (three).

Chase's loss was their 11th straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-15. As for St. John, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 11-5.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Chase has already played their next matchup (against Otis-Bison), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. St. John will look to defend their home court on Friday against Central Plains at 7:00 p.m.
