Baseball Game Preview: Althoff Catholic Crusaders vs. St. Louis HomeSchool P Patriots

The Althoff Catholic Crusaders will face off against the St. Louis HomeSchool P Patriots at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Althoff Catholic is coming into the contest on a six-game losing streak.

Althoff Catholic fell victim to O'Fallon and their airtight pitching crew on Saturday. They took a 5-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Panthers. That's two games in a row now that the Crusaders have lost by exactly five runs.

Althoff Catholic saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Zach Winkeler, who went 1-for-3 with one double.

St. Louis HomeSchool P not only won on Monday, but they posted their biggest win since April 29, 2024. Everything went their way against Valmeyer as they made off with a 12-3 win.

Damien Hinze tossed a big game, striking out seven batters over six innings while giving up just two earned runs off six hits.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Wyatt Duncan, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with four RBI, two runs, and two doubles. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Vinny Tornatore, who went 3-for-5 with two runs and one triple.

St. Louis HomeSchool P was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .382. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Valmeyer only posted a batting average of .233.

St. Louis HomeSchool P's victory bumped their record up to 12-8. As for Althoff Catholic, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-7.

Althoff Catholic was able to grind out a solid win over St. Louis HomeSchool P in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, winning 7-3. Will the Crusaders repeat their success, or do the Patriots have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
