The Springfield Wildcats will be staying on the road on Friday to face off against the Olentangy Braves at 7:00 p.m. on November 10th. Both teams come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
With a playoff game on the line, Springfield rose to the challenge on Friday. They walked away with a 17-10 victory over Centerville.
Meanwhile, Olentangy came tearing into Friday's game with six straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 25.4 points) and they left with even more momentum. They strolled past Miamisburg with points to spare, taking the game 38-21. Given Olentangy's advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio football rankings (they are ranked 13th, while Miamisburg is ranked 70th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Olentangy relied on the efforts of Riley Clarkson, who rushed for 82 yards and a touchdown on only six carries, and Ethan Grunkemeyer, who threw for 163 yards and three touchdowns. Grunkemeyer is on a roll when it comes to passing touchdowns, as he's now passed for three or more in the last five games he's played. Gavin Grover made the highlight reel by snagging an interception and taking it all the way to the house.
Springfield's win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 6-6. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 28.3 points per game. As for Olentangy, their win bumped their record up to 11-1.
