Softball Recap: South Stanly Has No Trouble Against Gray Stone Day

South Stanly had to skate by with only a two-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the ten-run drubbing they dealt Gray Stone Day on Monday. The Rowdy Rebel Bulls blew past the Knights 10-0. Considering the Rowdy Rebel Bulls have won ten contests by more than eight runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

Gray Stone Day's batters probably weren't too happy with Lyric Rucker, who pitched a no hitter and racked up ten Ks (she gave up a single walk).

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Lia Carpenter, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with five RBI, two runs, and one double. Those three hits gave her a new career-high. Ashelyn Tucker was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and two runs.

South Stanly always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .538. They are a perfect 7-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

South Stanly has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-12 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games. As for Gray Stone Day, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-11.

Coming up, South Stanly is taking a road trip to face off against Union Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Cardinals will roll in looking for their 22nd straight win, something the Rowdy Rebel Bulls surely won't give up without a fight. Gray Stone Day does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
