Football Recap: Bastrop Takes a Loss

Bastrop extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to nine on Thursday, dropping them down to 0-8. They took a blow against the Sterlington Panthers, falling 54-6. While losing is never fun, the Rams can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Louisiana football rankings (they are ranked 260th, while the Panthers are ranked 35th).

As for Sterlington, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 6-2. The result was nothing new for the Panthers, who have now won five matchups by 34 points or more so far this season.

Sterlington's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Devyn Downs, who picked up 115 receiving yards and three scores. The team also got some help courtesy of J-Rob Breen, who threw for 140 yards and four TDs while completing 75% of his passes.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Bastrop is set to square off against their familiar foe Richwood at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, Sterlington will take on rival Carroll at 7:00 p.m. on the 31st.
