Herscher has gone a perfect 5-0 against Dwight recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The Tigers will face off against the Trojans at 4:30 p.m. Herscher has given up an average of 7.9 runs per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Herscher fought the good fight in their extra-innings match against Manteno on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Panthers by a score of 12-10. The Tigers haven't had much luck with the Panthers recently, as the team has come up short the last six times they've met.

RyLyn Adams made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went a perfect 5-for-5 with three runs, one triple, and one stolen base. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last five games she's played. Addy Whitaker was another key player, going 3-for-5 with two runs and two RBI.
Meanwhile, it may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Dwight ultimately got the result they hoped for on Tuesday. They came out on top against Midland by a score of 9-6. The victory continues a trend for the Trojans in their matchups with the Timberwolves: they've now won eight in a row.
Madi Ely made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 11 batters over 7.2 innings while giving up four earned (and two unearned) runs off nine hits. Ely was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one run and one RBI.
In other batting news, Dwight let Raegan Brown and Mikayla Ely run wild. Brown went 4-for-5 with three runs, one double, and one RBI, while Ely went 2-for-5 with three RBI, two doubles, and one run. Those three RBI gave Ely a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Mckenna Woodcock, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
Dwight kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. They are 5-1 when they post 11 or more hits.
Dwight's record is now 6-13. As for Herscher, their defeat dropped their record down to 14-11.
Dwight's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Herscher has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 10.9 hits per game. It's a different story for Dwight, though, as they've been averaging 8.9 hits. Given Herscher's sizable advantage in that area, the Trojans will need to find a way to close that gap.
Herscher took their win against Dwight in their previous meeting back in May of 2024 by a conclusive 11-1 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Tigers since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
