Cobden had to kick off their season on the road on Monday, but they showed no ill effects. They were the clear victor by a 15-1 margin over the Webber Trojans. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Appleknockers as it put an end to their seven-game losing streak dating back to last season.
Abby Pitts made a splash no matter where she played. She kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 12 over six innings pitched. Pitts was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Natalie Franklin, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, four runs, and one double. Allison McGee was another key player, scoring three runs while going 3-for-4.
Cobden was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .412. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Webber only posted a batting average of .143.
