Softball Recap: Advanced Math & Science Academy Wins Going Away Against Westborough

Advanced Math & Science Academy never let their opponents score on Monday. They blew past the Westborough Rangers 14-0. The Eagles might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven games by ten runs or more this season.

Ava McLeod made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out 14 over seven innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts any time she's pitched this season. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-5 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Guilamina Yost, who went 1-for-4 with one home run. Another player making a difference was Brooke Laudate, who went 2-for-5 with two stolen bases and three runs.

The victory made it two in a row for Advanced Math & Science Academy and bumps their season record up to 7-1. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 16.5 runs over those games. As for Westborough, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-3.

Coming up, Advanced Math & Science Academy will welcome Littleton at 3:45 p.m. on Wednesday. The Eagles' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Tigers have averaged an impressive 6.6 runs per game this season. As for Westborough, they will square off against Leominster at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
